Our local wine store is proving to be an excellent resource for inexpensive, new wines. Usually, they have a large selection of wines under $10, and continually rotate the selection. On this visit to The Corkscrew, we found a Cabernet Sauvignon from the Lot 205 Winery in Napa, California.
In the glass, this wine offers bright, cherry colors with luscious berry aromas. The nose fills with strawberries, blackberries, black cherries, along with hints of currant, mocha and just the slightest note of spice. While this wine aged in both French and American oak, the aroma of oak does not exist. This wine blends 88% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Merlot to present a round, velvety textured wine. The Lot 205 Cabernet Sauvignon is the perfect wine to have while preparing dinner. There’s not much complexity or body, it’s a rather simple wine and mild for a Cabernet Sauvignon.

It’s a neat label and a affordable price tag. I think I’ll pick up a bottle and try it out. If I don’t like it I’ll just use it to cook with.
